We are very excited to produce for you the 13th Annual Honolulu Triathlon Festival of Sports (May 15th, 2016 SUN). Please read the following information carefully.
RACE WEEK: The big week is upon us. We are very excited and look forward to seeing you at the event. Thank you for your registration and continued support. Be sure to review the Schedule of Events and the Events Information page for detailed information.
FREE BIKE RIDE: Island Triathlon & Bike (ITB) our bike shop partner will host a free group ride on SAT May 14th, 2016, 7:00am in front of their shop at 569 Kapahulu Ave. Just show up with your bike!
FREE SWIM CLINIC: A free swim clinic at Ala Moana Beach Park for anyone who wants to familiarize themselves with the water before the race is available on Friday, May 13th 2PM and Saturday, May 14th 9AM.
FREE YOGA & RECOVERY RUN: Join us for a 3 mile recovery run followed by a deep stretch session with local ambassador, JURI KO EDWARDS. Your body will thank you!
Monday, May 16th 5:00PM, meet at lululemon athletica, 2270 Kalakaua Ave. Please bring our own yoga mat, if you have one.
SECURITY ANNOUNCEMENT: Please do not bring backpacks or bags larger than 14 x10 x 8 inches to the Start Line, Transition Area and Finish Line Area. This includes during packet pickup. Please leave your bags in the car.
Smaller purses or bags may be subject to search upon entry to the event area. Please be understanding if security personnel ask you not to bring a larger bag into the area, or ask to look in your bag. Race Day: TRI-bags or bags carrying your equipment are ok however; only athletes and race officials with their race number tattooed on both arms and wearing their wristband on their LEFT wrist will be allowed in the Transition Area (no exceptions).
PRE RACE ACTIVITIES
INTERNATIONAL WELCOME PARTY (Almost sold-out) A limited amount of tickets are left. We will be selling the remaining tickets during the EXPO at the Late Registration tent. The party will be held on Friday, May 13th (6-9pm): Enjoy a stunning ocean view from the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki Promenade Terrace while wining and dining the finest delicacies Hawaii has to offer. Price per person is $40, buffet included. Drinks are separate. Kids (age 3 to 12) pay only $20.
REGISTRATION/PACKET PICKUP: On-line registration is now closed. We will accept late registrations at Packet Pickup on Friday, May 13th – 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturday, May 14th -10:30am to 5:00pm at Ala Moana Beach Park – Magic Island (1201 Ala Moana Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96814). Please come in person to pick up your packet.

PARKING: There is only a limited number of parking stalls available on race day. Parking passes will be handed out on first-come-first-serve basis during packet pickup on Friday, May 13th 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Make sure to pick up your packet as early as possible to get a parking pass.
STEPS FOR PACKET PICKUP:
1. Attend on-site race briefing or bring signed affidavit after reading the online briefing here.
2. If you did not sign up online please sign the USAT wavier (forms available on-site or here).
3. Check your race BIB number
(BIB No. list will be posted on the info tower at Packet Pick-up/BIB No. will also be sent out via E-mail to every participant this week)
4. Show your ID to receive race packet, inside: Souvenir Bag, Athlete Number Sheet, Swim Cap (Triathletes only), Racing Tattoo (Triathletes only), Souvenir T-shirt, Sponsor removable tattoos to wear during the event and other goodies.
FINAL STEP: Stay and enjoy Expo and Workshops.
RACE BRIEFING ON-LINE: You can read the briefing online instead of attending one of the pre-race briefings. The briefing is in a pdf slide format and easy to view. This will make your packet pickup faster, enjoyable, and smoother. At the end of the briefing there will be an affidavit which you will need to print, sign, and bringing to packet pickup. ALL athletes participating must either attend the on-site briefing or view the online briefing and bring the affidavit form in order to pick up their packets.

TIMING CHIPS: After you checked in your bike on race day please proceed to the timing-chip handout. Immediately strap the timing chip around your ankle and exit through the chip check. That way we know you are participating and we can keep track of you. Same procedure applies to the 10K runners.
RACE TATTOOS: Tri-Athletes will receive 2 tattoos with your number for your arms. Please apply it to the LEFT and RIGHT bicep area of your arm BEFORE race day (read the instructions on the back of the tattoos). This reduces the time for pre-race check in and allows us to start on-time (5:45am). Once you have it on do not place any oil or lotion on that area. Also, we recommend you wait to shower until after the race. This will keep your tattoo looking fresh. There will be body marking at the morning check-in for any athlete needing a touch up.
COLOR CODED COURSE: It is your responsibility to know the course BUT this is one extra insurance you will go the correct way. There are 3 colors:
ORANGE – Olympic TRI, Olympic Relays, 10K Run – – –
GREEN – Sprint TRI, Sprint Relays, Junior TRI (16-19), – – –
BLUE – Youth TRI (11-15), Kids TRI (7-10) – – –
Triathletes will receive a color swim cap for the event you signed up for. Simply follow the color coded signs and cones at critical intersections that will be placed along the course. We will also provide you with course marshals to cheer you on.
POST RACE ACTIVITIES
RIRAKU (from Japan) will be taking care of any aches or pains you may have. RIRAKU is a team of professional massage therapists from Japan that has helped athletes at Ironman Triathlons from around the world.
MERCHANDISE TENT: Our Honolulu Triathlon Retail Tent is back and open for business. We are offering several items for sale that will complete your memories of this epic event. The tent will be located at the race venue, Magic Island, and open during packet pickup and race day. This terrific gear is only available during the event, so get it while you can.
Island Triathlon & Bike (ITB): IT&B will be have booth with bike equipment and other goodies available during the expo. As a special treat IT&B will be selling raffle tickets ($25 per ticket) for a brand new 2016 BMC SLR03 Tiagra. Make sure you grab a ticket.
LIVE RESULTS: We will be posting the results live during the event. Save and Share this link HERE with your friends and family so they can get your splits & finishing time as soon as you finish.
FINISHER PHOTOS: FinisherPix, the Official Photographers of the Honolulu Triathlon, is providing you with quality race photos. You can purchase your photosHERE.
AWARDS: We have gone GREEN! The Honolulu Triathlon has taken the lead and doing our part for the environment and will continue to do digital awards for all age group winners. We have created a very cool souvenir digital award which will be emailed to all age group winners. This award will include one action shoot photo of you and allows you to print & frame, post on social media, and send to friends and family. Overall’s winners in the Olympic and Sprint TRI, RELAY TRI, ARMED FORCES TRI, YOUTH/JUNIOR TRI, 10K will receive trophies in addition to the digital awards. ALL Athletes crossing the finishing line will receive a finisher’s medal, sponsor towel, and their official finishing time. Awards will be presented in all divisions. The Award Ceremony will take place in the finish line area. Results will be posted at the event and the official results posted online. Awards will be given as soon as each event has completed. IF you can’t stay, send us an email and we will gladly send you your award for the price of shipping and handling. Awards will be recycled and not available after July 1st.
